Essential Details for Bus Organizers

The plan for March 21:

Assemble by 12 noon at 23rd and Constitution Ave. NW. The march to the Pentagon and the Corporate War Profiteers will depart from this location.

Bus drop off will be on 23rd St. north of Constitution Ave., right across the street from the opening rally site. After dropping off passengers, buses will drive to the bus parking location, which is on Potomac Ave. between S. Glebe Rd. and 27th St. in Arlington, VA 22201. Buses will pick up passengers on Crystal Dr. between 23rd St. and 26th St. after the march ends; this is just a few blocks from the bus parking and right where the march ends.

1) DRIVING DIRECTIONS

For detailed driving directions to Washington DC, click here, then click "Get Directions" on the upper left hand side, and enter your starting location. Or you can enter 23rd St. and Constitution Ave NW, Washington, District of Columbia, 20002 as your destination.

Please note: The "National Marathon" will be taking place on the morning of the 21st. The roads around the opening rally site will be reopened between 8:00 am and 8:30 am, though there will be other streets that remain closed until later in the morning/afternoon. Please review the marathon street closure map when making plans for your bus's entry into DC to avoid roads that will be closed. The bridge used to get to the bus parking (after passengers are dropped off) in Virginia will not be closed.

2) BUS DROP OFF on 23rd St. north of Constitution Ave.

Bus drop off will be on 23rd St. north of Constitution Ave. This is right across the street from the gathering site at 23rd St. and Constitution Ave. NW. (Buses should not stop or drop off on Constitution Ave.)

The image to the left shows the bus drop off location, which is on 23rd St. right across the street from the opening rally site.

We strongly recommend that all buses utilize this drop off point. This will ensure that everyone arrives on time and does not miss the rally and the start of the march. Buses have dropped off in downtown DC for all of the massive anti-war rallies involving hundreds of thousands of people. Because buses arrive over a period of several hours, there will not be a heavy back-up of buses.

Buses should not drop off and/or park at outlying metro stations. (Those who do this may not arrive on time for the rally and the march step off. It will take a minimum of 45 minutes to ride the metro to the assembly area, you may have to transfer metro lines, it will cost over $2 per person and then you will have to walk to the rally area from the metro exit. After the rally, you will again have to walk back to, pay for and ride the metro, which will delay your departure or require you to leave the demonstration early.) It is only a few minutes walk from the bus drop off point to the rally site.

The bridge used to get to the bus parking in Virginia will not be closed.

4) BUS PARKING in Arlington, Virginia

After dropping passengers off at 23rd St. and Constitution Ave. NW - just blocks from the opening rally site (23rd St. and Constitution Ave. NW) - buses can drive to their parking location.

Buses can park on Potomac Ave. between S. Glebe Rd. and 27th St. in Arlington, Virginia. If you are doing online directions, use "S Glebe Rd & Potomac Ave, Arlington, VA 22201" as your desination.

Click here for directions from the bus drop off location to the bus parking location (5-page PDF).  All bus organizers should print this out and give it to their bus driver.

The bridge used to get to the bus parking in Virginia will not be closed.

5) BUS PICK-UP in Arlington, Virginia

Bus pick-up after the rally will be on Crystal Dr. between 23rd St. and 26th St. in Arlington, Virginia. This is very near the bus parking and right where the march is ending.

Click here for close-up maps of the bus parking and bus pick up locations (2-page PDF). All bus organizers should print this out and give it to their bus driver and bus captain.
